Often called one of the hardest working groups in bluegrass music, The Little Mountain Boys play bluegrass, gospel and country music. Their love of and respect for bluegrass music is evident in their musical talents and in their well-blended harmony. All members of the group at various times sing either lead or harmony, thus enabling them to reach all facets of bluegrass music as well as gospel.

Some members of the group have played together since an early age, and of course it helps that 3 members, T.W. Massie (banjo and guitar), Scott (dobro and fiddle), and Mike (mandolin) are brothers. They are joined by Ronnie Wood (lead vocals and guitar), A. D. Massie (lead vocals and guitar), Kenneth Ford (bass) and Jeff Herring (lead vocals and guitar).

The band name is derived from the mountainous area in which the majority of the band members reside. This mountainous region is called the “Litte Mountain”, located in nelson County in the Lowesville – Piney River, Virginia area. There are no ‘little’ members of the band – just the mountain!

The band has been nominated and chosen as “Volunteers of the Year” by several local Ruritan clubs. The Little Mountain Boys have performed at numerous events and festivals including Festival in the Pines, Central Virginia Family Bluegrass Festival, Bluegrass in the Blue Ridge, Sedalia, Grottoes Bluegrass Festival, Mineral Bluegrass Festival and All American Bluegrass Festival. Their outgoing personalities and friendliness make the group favorites of the fans.

The group currently has six CD’s, the last of which was released in July, 2011. For more information, visit their website.
