James String Quartet in Weidner World Premiere Series

A collaboration between Amherst Glebe Arts Response (AGAR) and the Forest-based James String Quartet (JSQ) includes the world premiere of Lynchburg composer Raymond Weidner’s String Quartet No. 1 – The AGAR Quartet.  Also included in the performances will be Dmitri Shostakovich’s emotional String Quartet No 8 in c minor Op. 110; an opening light and airy work by Giacomo Puccini, Chrysanthemums; and sections of Passages by Andrew Williams featuring Lynchburg College professor Dr. Chris Magee as guest artist on trumpet.

The Ray Weidner composition was commissioned by AGAR with the help of commissioning grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust.

Tickets are $15/adults and $2 for students/children.
