Meet the Judge - Jean Wibbens
Jean is a photographer in rural Virginia who exhibits fine art photography at local and national galleries. Her work has won awards in galleries from Albuquerque, NM to Lynchburg, VA. Twice she has won Best in Show at the John Faber Memorial Show in the Smith Mountain Lake area. Her work has been published in the “Virginia Wildlife” magazine as well as the International magazine “Black and White” and “Photographer’s Forum”. Jean has published three books: “The Eye of God”, a study of a prison from the late 1800’s; “Lives of Bedford” with past photographer Robert Miller; and “Connections”, a study of how we connect with the environment and others. A winner of multiple Virginia Press Association awards, Jean’s photos are often published in the Bedford Bulletin as well.
Jean also enjoys teaching classes and workshops in many locations around Bedford County and Lynchburg.
Her favorite subjects to photograph are nature and the things we see every day but are revealed in a new and different way.
As a musician in the band “Riddle on the Harp”, Jean sees a relationship between all the arts and hopes to express harmony and melody in photography as well as music. One can find beauty in many things if we just open our eyes and our hearts.
