During renovations to the Bower Center, several old doors were salvaged. As part of our celebration we are offering local artists the opportunity to select one of these doors or they may use one of their own to be reimagined. Maybe a door becomes a mural, a potting bench, a hall tree, a bookcase or something else that will spark our curiosity or imagination.
We are asking artists to select a door (one of ours or their own), recreate it into something new, and donate your completed project back to the Bower Center for an “Open Door” themed exhibit and fundraising auction. All reimagined doors will be on display April 28 – May 15, 2021 and will be part of an in person & online silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the operations of the Bower Center. Artists will be recognized for their work and a tax receipt and letter of thanks will be provided for their donation.
If you are interested in using one of the Bower Center salvaged doors, please contact Susan Martin, Executive Director at firstname.lastname@example.org or 540-586-4235 to see which doors are still available. (Images can be provided) They will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
We also encourage you to reimagine your own door! There are no limitations on the size or shape - it just must be a door of some kind. This can include a shutter door, kitchen cabinet door and more. Click on the link above to enter.
