Suzie Viemeister Emerging Artist: Aric Bryant

Nov 24 - Jan 23, 2021

The Bower Center for the Arts was pleased to announce our first Suzie Viemeister Emerging Artist, Aric Bryant in February 2020. This studio residency program has been established through the generosity of the Viemeister family to continue the legacy of Suzie Viemeister, exceptional Philanthropist and prolific supporter of the arts in Bedford. Suzie had long inspired many in Bedford and the region with her unlimited enthusiasm and commitment to helping and supporting the arts. As a generous champion for painters, sculptors, and other artists, a fund was established to continue her legacy.

The Suzie Viemeister Emerging Artist Program provides artists the opportunity to further develop their artistic skills and the business behind art while being supported by creative and professional local businesses and artists.

Aric Bryant always enjoyed drawing as a child, but never seriously pursued art due to other interests in music and horses. As an adult, he became a registered nurse, and has spent most of his career working in emergency rooms around the Unites States. He met his wife, Katie, four years ago. Katie saw some of the doodles Aric drew and encouraged him to draw more.

When the couple settled in Bedford, VA, Aric signed up for a drawing class at the Bower Center in Spring 2019 and has been drawing and painting ever since. While he enjoys many forms of artistic expression, he likes the technical expertise of the classical masters the most. Aric strives to demonstrate the form of his subjects as he works in dry media, such as charcoal, pencil and conte crayon, as well as wet media such as watercolor and oil paint. Aric is grateful to the Bower Center and the Viemeister family for the opportunity to work and display his work here at the Bower Center.
