The 4th Annual Bedford’s Finest Fare, one of Bower Center's major fundraising events, will celebrate Bedford’s vibrant food, beverages, music, and art! Local chefs will offer a sampling of mouth-watering gourmet appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
Local restaurants participating in the 4th Annual Bedford Finest Fare are Benjamins, Millstone Tea Room, Beale's BBQ, Peaks of Otter Lodge, Happy Coffee, Tap 102, Town Kitchen & Provisions, Fishers, Liberty Station, Azul, Homestead Creamery, and Bedford Social Club.
Secret treasures are in Bedford Virginia, and you'll discover one of them at our Fare. New to Bedford's scene is Beale's Beer and they will be serving their craft beer all evening. If you've never experienced traditional craft beer, be prepared to experience the full flavor sensations of Beale's craft beer: "Simple thrills for curious folks."
Beale’s is Bedford's first craft brewery and its brewmaster, James Frazer, is a Bedford native. "At Beale's, we're focused on high-quality, easy-drinking beers. Take our signature Beale's Gold– it's a traditional Helles Lager: simple, crisp, and bold. Our beers pair well with just about anything and are best enjoyed in the company of others. Craft beer lovers and those new to craft will all be able to find a Beale’s beer to love." And enjoying creative endeavors with the company of others is what Bower Center for the Arts is all about!
Adding flavor to Bedford's Finest Fare is music by The Tommy Cox Band and Hoppie Vaughan and The Ministers of Soul.
The Tommy Cox Band provides a mix of blues, classic rock and jam brought to you in a convenient Power Trio size. The musicians who create the soul-feeding sounds are Tommy Cox on guitar and vocals, Chris Schmitt on keyboard, sax, and vocals, and Eric Hollandsworth on bass and vocals and Chris Helms on drums.
Hoppie Vaughan and The Ministers of Soul was voted best local band by City Magazine 2009. Hoppie voted best musician Roanoke City Magazine 2012 & 2013.
Hoppie is a native South Carolinian and his musical style could be described as rhythm & blue-eyed soul. In 1988 Hoppie appeared on nationally Syndicated Star Search and appeared in several music videos. Notably, Lorrie Morgan’s “Train Wreck of Emotion”, and Mac Gayden’s “Crazy Mama”. Hoppie has performed or appeared with such artists as: Delbert McClinton, ROD PRICE of famed FOGHAT, Mac Gayden, Tommy Two Tone, Jimmy Hall/Wet Willie, Ronnie Milsap, Wayne Perkins, Tommy Castro, Tab BenoitJohn Mayall, Sonia Data, Goose Creek Symphony, Gatemouth Brown, Miranda Louise, The Kentucky Headhunters, to name a few.
