It is with great sadness that we are sharing the passing of Rosel H. Schewel. This is an immeasurable loss to Lynchburg, our community, and all of us here at Riverviews.
Mrs. Schewel was an early champion of what was to become Riverviews Artspace. Once doors opened, Rosel served for many years as a board member and continued to support and frequent as a patron, last at an event just a few weeks ago.
She loved thought-provoking contemporary art and film. It is this passion and commitment which ensured the creation of our cinema, the Rosel H. Schewel theater.
Rosel's vision and dedication was remarkable. She championed art as a requirement for a healthy society and a strong community. Without Rosel Schewel Riverviews would not be the Downtown anchor of Arts and Culture as it is today. Mrs. Schewel had such a profound impact on many, her contribution to our community is immeasurable, she will be missed dearly.
