The United States has more lighthouses than any other country in the world. While on a recent trip to Maine and just over the border to Canada, she discovered a number of beautiful lighthouses, several of which are seldom photographed. This fascination has been the start of a new direction of photographic exploration for her.
Jean has been taking photos ever since saving cereal box tops to buy a camera when she was 6 years old. While attending college, she became more serious with photography and started using a 35mm camera. Jean’s love of photography led to a Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a minor in English concentrating on Journalism. Her education continued with numerous post-graduate courses.
One of Jean’s favorite photographic subjects are everyday things that most people just walk right by without noticing. Jean exhibits in local galleries and has had several successful single artist shows. She's a published author with two books: “The Eye of God” is based on a photographic exploration of incarceration at a prison built in 1829, and another, in collaboration with fellow photographer, Robert Miller, called “The Lives of Bedford”. Jean and Robert are currently working on another book to be published later in 2018.
