The Bower Center for the Arts continues to grow through the kind gifts of our many benefactors… your support makes our community a healthier and more vibrant place for all of us.
What are we doing?
- After-school and summer arts camp programs coordinated with Claytor Nature Center and 21st Century Learning Center Enrichment Programs
- Monthly art exhibitions featuring artists from Bedford and surrounding regions
- Monthly concert program by eclectic local and regional groups
- Full array of music and art classes
- Meeting space for local arts and community groups and social events
- An established scholarship program
- New sound system for performances at the Bower Center
- Landscaping of Bower Center and Wharton Cottage grounds
- Wharton Cottage renovations for two private residences and 309 Winery
- New roof and boiler for the Bower Center
Future Goals
- Expand music and art programs for all ages
- Increase support staff
- Maintain and upgrade facilities
- Rebuild orangerie on Wharton Cottage
- Introduce sculpture and a water feature in the Wharton Memorial Garden
- Install a garden irrigation system
- Create a community project of mosaic panels depicting history, art and culture of Bedford
